...The Legend of Chris Presley...

The Biography
This is the Diary of Chris Presley.....you think you know....but you have no idea.... :)

No, I’m just kidding. Anyways, my name is Chris. I come from Whiteland, Indiana. I was born January 18th, 1985 to Jeff and Michelle Presley. Since the age of 5, I have been a musician. Starting on drums, until my brothers tore up my first drum set, then moving to guitar at age 11. Basically I started to play guitar, because I noticed in school, how much attention my friends got from girls when they brought their guitar in to play. And to this day, I still play guitar for the same reason.....I think....

But like I said, I was raised in a small rural town. Nothing much to do, you just kind of did whatever. My nights usually consisted on getting with friends, and hitting up a party somewhere. I enjoy the outdoors a lot. I would always coordinate camping trips and fishing trips with my close buddies. I fish like there is no tomorrow. Someday I would like to buy a big bass boat and hit the tour and fish professionally. But, since music has taken up much of my life, that has been put on hold. I’m a pretty simple guy. I like all kinds of sports and am a "Home town" fan. I like all Indiana teams. Colts, Pacers, IU. I also enjoy computers and the games that come with them :). I spend a lot of time playing games and writing songs and playing my guitar.

Before I played music, I was a Firefighter. During high school, I took classes to get my certifications in Firefighting/EMT. The band formed when we I was a sophomore, so there was always conflicts with Fire training and band practice. I joined the band, called Destined at the time, at a talent show at our high school. I didn’t really know these guys to well, but they needed another guitar player, and i was there playing with another friend. I said, "Sure, why not?" They showed me the chords back stage, and I went up with them, and we won. We were so proud of what we did; we thought we would form a real band and start playing shows. Well, a short 2 weeks later, I was kicked out of the band, due to my guitar sounding to "Rockin." Yea I know.....I thought the same thing.

About a year later, Travis, one of the lead singers of the band, lost his brother to a freak softball accident. The band got back together to pay memory to him. Our first show was on the books, to play for the World Peace Games in downtown Indianapolis. What a fun show, we sounded like crap, but it was fun. After that, we rehearsed more and started to book more gigs.

We continued to play with each other on and off for the next 4 years. We all had other life’s we were trying to pursue, and other dreams. I was working on an Ambulance 70 hrs a week, and putting time in @ the fire department. All of this while trying to become a Law Enforcement Officer. In July of 2004, we joined back together, and created a new name for the band, River County. With a few member changes, we felt this was a new life for us. Our first show was a double header on 4th of July. We played two back yard parties located about 40 miles from each other. After that, we started rehearsing more and more and finally got to play my first bar show. And ironically, we got screwed on our first one. Pay was lower than what was stated, so we learned quickly that this business is full of people who want to take advantage of you. We started playing around for about 6 months, while I was still doing my fire thing. We broke up again and finally joined back together in Late 2005. Since then, we have gone from a 7-piece band of kids from high school; to the 3 guys we have now.

Looking back on everything, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I loved doing what I was doing with emergency services, and will still continue to do that later down the road, but I feel that my heart is in music, and the creation of said music. Wherever this crazy life takes me, I will always enjoy what I do. I try to make the most of every situation, and enjoy life while I can.

Can't wait to meet you on the road,

Chris Presley
