The Capitol Youth Symphony Orchestra is sponsored under the auspices of the Capitol Civic Centre, with assistance from the Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra. The Music Director of the Capitol Youth Symphony Orchestra reports to the Executive Director of the Capitol Civic Centre.
 
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
 
1. Responsible for planning all concerts, rehearsals, auditions and trips of the Capitol Youth Symphony Orchestra.
2. Plan repertoire for the season, adding to the music library as the season requires.
3. Prepare and conduct all rehearsals. Coordinate and prepare all sectional coaches.
4. Work through the Executive Director and staff of the Capitol Civic Centre to recruit section leaders, to schedule space for auditions, rehearsals, performances and fundraising activities.
5. Responsible for the set-up of all rehearsal spaces and for returning them to their original condition at the end of the rehearsal.
6. Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with area schools, school districts and private studio instructors for purposes of recruiting and promotion.
7. Arrange for supervision of students during rehearsals with parent volunteers.
8. Work with parent volunteers to delegate all necessary duties involved with concert preparation.
9. Work with the Executive Director of the Capitol Civic Centre to create the annual budget.
10. Work with the Capitol Civic Centre Marketing Director to plan and coordinate marketing for the season.
11. Work with the Capitol Civic Centre Executive Director to plan and coordinate development for the season.
