Tommy Gilham
Tommy was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama in a home filled with music, religion, and a hardcore southern sensibility. He was drawn to Nashville after he won a songwriter contest and immediately received a publishing deal with Polygram. While there he had the opportunity to work with artists such as Charlie Daniels, Hank Williams Jr. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marty Stewart and more. Nascar legend Bobby Allison helped him land both his record deal and gigs at Nascar Races. He released his first country music video called Nascar Disease, which quickly became an anthem to racing fans. During his time in Nashville, Tommy befriended a short, funny guy at a golf tournament. They quickly became friends and had regular lunches and outings. The friend never revealed his business identity to Tommy until one day - about a year later - when he had a limo pick Tommy up and deposit him at his house which was filled with gold records. The friend turned out to be none other than the president of Capitol Records. Unfortunately, just before a major deal was signed his friend passed away. This is just one of the stories of Tommy Gilham. He has written many songs that have been optioned by major country stars including Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, George Strait and others.
Tommy was a rising star in Nashville and then the distraction of a beautiful Canadian girl took Tommy on a new wonderful journey. After marrying, they settled on Pam’s fifth generation family homestead farm on the Bruce Peninsula with two Alabama dogs, Banjo and Mandolin. Surprisingly, it is Tommy that wants to stay in Canada. He has fallen in love with the peace, beauty and safety of our country. His relocation north of the border has been Canada's gain.
Tommy may look like a fish out of water - a southern suburban cowboy - with the heart and soul of a Canadian boy. Tommy is a very charismatic individual who is very optimistic, has that real southern charming drawl, has a great sense of humour and an uncanny storytelling ability.
Tommy has written wonderful songs in tribute to our soldier heroes and one of his songs is listed in Neil Young's top songs about war.
Tommy has spent the last few years performing in various venues in Ontario and is establishing a Canadian fan base.
